I tick the radio boxes: Local Printer attached to this computer & automatically detct and install my plug & play printer.

Even though I shouldn't have to with plug and play, I do, as plugging and playing does nothing. The printer is not in my 'Printers & Faxes' folder so I next run the 'Add a printer' wizard. Then I plug my psc 2410 into the usb slot. This happens 5 more times (one after the other), which I finish as before. I finish that 'Found new hardware' pop-up. Not unexpected I think as I haven't added any new hardware (yet). I run it to get the message 'Cannot install this hardware'. Next (without anything new being plugged in, the 'Found new hardware' box appears.

The software 'installs' after about 10 minutes (notice the quotation marks!) so I click finish. Ok I think, as suggested by the software, I'll unplug the usb cable and install the software, ticking the box that states 'I am unable to connect the device now etc etc' I press 'retry', I make sure the device is powered on and the usb cable is connected properly. The next message I get is: Device setup has failed to complete. The device gets detected (as I expect) so I wait for the device setup to finish. The first message I get (after I accept the agreement etc) is: connect your device now (which I do). I run the software (gc_w01_ENU.exe) which I have downloaded from HP: I have uninstalled and re-installed over and over (and over) again. I have tried this software over and over (and over again). Tried downloading to disk the 'up-to-date' software from HP - fails I've tried using the auto-install software from the HP website - fails I tried using the original software it came with - fails

I am having trouble installing my HP psc 2410 photosmart all-in-one to this new pc - and I am EXHAUSTED. I now have a brand new PC - just out of the box. You can get better quality at a slightly slower speed for less money.I have been using my HP psc 2410 photosmart all-in-one for over 2 years without any problem (well, hardly any) on my old PC. These translate to decent, but not terrific, output.

Unfortunately, the 2410's output quality was not as impressive as its speed, with a rating of good for text, a little better than fair for graphics, and just short of very good for photos. With standard business apps, it beat most of the competition on all but three individual tests, and it came in third for a total time of 26:57, only about 6 minutes behind the Brother MFC-3420c, which took first place at 20:24. The 2410 ranked first on our photo suite, averaging 2 minutes 11 seconds for 4-by-6s, and 4:58 for 8-by-10s. Cost per page ranked in the middle but was toward the low end for actual costs, at 3.4 cents per monochrome page and 12.5 cents for color. The only important missing capability is an ADF, but the 2410 does offer USB 2.0 and parallel ports.īuilt around a standard ink jet engine rather than a photo engine, the 2410 still lets you swap out the black ink cartridge for a photo cartridge to switch between four- and six-color printing. But it's also a good fit for most other purposes, including copying, scanning, faxing with the built-in fax modem, and printing from business applications. Īs you might guess from the name, the HP PSC 2410 Photosmart All-in-One offers a variety of photo features and fast times for photo printing.

Review: As you might guess from the name, the HP PSC 2410 Photosmart All-in-One offers a variety of photo features and fast times for photo printing. It's also reasonably fast for business applications, and despite the lack of an automatic document feeder, it's a capable AIO complete with a built-in fax modem. Bottom Line: The HP PSC 2410 Photosmart All-in-One emphasizes photo printing, with fast print times for photos and direct printing from memory cards. Pros: Fast performance for photos and relatively fast performance for business applications.
